Is Scotland stricter on guarantors than England/Wales?
I’ve done 3 for dc1 (2 different agencies) but dh & I don’t earn enough for dc2s in Scotland as they want 36x her rent. Not helped by the fact I can’t prove my income (SE).
We’ve had to rope her Dad in but how do people manage?

DDs uni (Edinburgh) offers a guarantee scheme where the uni guarantee but everyone in the flat needs to be eligible.

That’s interesting.

Sometimes there is a 'non-guarantor' option which can involve paying anything from 2 months' rent (great) to 12 months' rent (not so great) up front.
This is aimed at overseas students maybe and for a UK based student it maybe easier to get the 2 months version if they have a track record already i.e. they are not a first year.

There are also companies that provide a guarantor for a fee.
