Internships

I am trying to help my DS find an internship over the summer. He's studying Psychology at RHUL and would like to do something related. Are there any recommended internship websites?

TargetJobs and Prospect are decent. But the best way is to make a list of employers and track their individual websites. Also you’ve left it very late . Most internship intakes are already confirmed. Even if there’s no official internship you can still write directly to employers and see if you can do some work experience.

Also I presume you’ve also done the standard things like Googling ‘best internship websites’ and using the university careers service

Has he made any contact with RHUL's careers service? That should be his first port of call.

Also, advise him to look at his university emails! At my place, we start sending information to our personal tutees about opportunities for summer placements/internships in January/February. Although whether they take any notice ...

He should be doing this, not you.

RHUL do some with partner organisations, has he checked with Careers and department intranet?

Isn’t it late to be looking? Try looking for volunteering opportunities as well. I would have thought Psychology internships are like hens teeth. Who would offer them? Other than just a tiny number in the NHS maybe? I would look for anything suitable in a very broad sense.
