Uni offer higher than website

Disappointed DD here who has now been offered a place at Manchester for AAA though the website says a typical offer for her course is ABB. She has ABB from last year (plus a retake for one A level last Autumn) so she has to conclude they really don’t want her. Are others finding offers are higher than might normally be expected?

You can apply for late entry but it costs more and also the exams board can refuse to accept the late entry.

To update: DD has contacted each university and corrected UCAS. Leeds has now given her an offer. She is very pleased. I’m not sure which she will take (this or Newcastle) as she is still hoping that Manchester may still offer. I’m not sure Manchester will change/lower their offer to the grades she has but you never know.

Sorry I mean to say, Leeds will take the grades she has.

That's really good news fossie.

Good call by her and congrats to her on her offers

Fossie, my DD was in a similar position to yours, she took one on October and pulled it up, but wasn't planning to do any resits this summer . She has unconditionals from both Newcastle and Manchester but I'm pretty sure that she will will pick Newcastle as she loved it when she visited. I don't know if your DD had the opportunity to visit it. If you are in London , east coast or SE, the trains to Newcastle are fast, you can get there from London in 3 hours, about the same as other closer cities. (only about 20 minutes longer than London to Manchester). Newcastle is a solid RG with a good reputation as a Uni and for it's student life.

Thank you mushroom3, that is good to know.

Dd loves Newcastle. It’s a compact city with great transport links.

She has just been told by Manchester that they will take her on her grades she has! She is so pleased.
