My son has been accepted to Bristol Uni. He has high functioning Autism. We are looking at a catered halls. I quite like the look of the Clifton Halls but there are no ensuite. Anybody have any experience of the accomodation at Bristol Uni, the support on offer & any tips on settling him into the area. Thanks x

He needs to get in contact with Accommodation Office ahead of time to explain situation as many students don't get first choice.

He will probably get priority.

My son was in self catered City centre.

My DD was catered at Wills but shared bathrooms. I don’t know if the newer rooms have en suite. Also look at Churchill which is catered. Do contact the accommodations office for advice.

Both Churchill and Wills are in Stoke Bishop so you might need to factor in the transport element. Most DC settle into their halls as opposed to the area. Some settle into bars and nightclubs! You do have to find friends that are compatible with what you like to do. There are loads of sports clubs and university societies. There are also info sessions in freshers week to find out about what’s on offer so it’s good to go along to these. DC also make friends on their course so hopefully normality will reign in October!

My twins shared bathrooms in Wills (my daughter was there too) and Churchill Hall although the latter was only 2 to his bathroom so many fewer than at home! We preferred Stoke Bishop catered halls. I don't have autism experience re Bristol however. All 3 of mine who went to Bristol did like their Stoke Bishop catered year 1 halls.
