@Nettleskeins

I love your DD! Mine is dressed as Borat.

Sostenueto · 31/10/2020 20:11

Well we won't be seeing Dgd before Xmas now then☹️

sammyjoanne · 31/10/2020 21:02

@specialted aww thats good to know the flats are all buzzing for Halloween :) They were in the kitchen taking pics before they left to go to the Cornerhouse in Lancaster. DD sent pic of herself as rihanna, and four of the other girls as spice girls for tonight, although with her hair slicked back, I did take DD as Posh spice :D She doesn't drink but sent a photo of her having a nice mocktail too.
Glad you got to see your DS :) I know its not been long, but after 5 weeks, you can really tell they have changed and more mature and confident in themselves :)
@Nettleskeins lol made me think back to visit last week, I saw a few students through the windows of their kitchens having a boogie. and nice one dressed in a Toga for halloween :)
@choirmumoftwo hope they come back for Christmas too. fingers crossed this lockdown isn't extended

From the guidance:

There are further restrictions in place:

If you live at university, you must not move back and forward between your permanent home and student home during term time. You should only return home at the end of term for Christmas. We will publish further guidance on the end of term

BCBG · 31/10/2020 21:23

@sammyjoanne @Nettleskeins @specialted aw that's really cheered me up! Being a long long away from DD right down in Kent - there's no chance of us seeing her before she can come home so it's lovely to hear that the campus looks friendly, Halloween-y and welcoming!

tinkywinkyshandbag · 31/10/2020 21:32

@Hoghgyni what guidance is that from? DD was coming home next Friday for a visit, we expect her flight will be cancelled anyway but she is thinking she'd like to be home for lockdown, we'd have to pick her up. I'm happy to do it but I'm just worried she risks isolating herself from her friendship group. At the same time instinctively i would quite like her under our roof.

sammyjoanne · 31/10/2020 21:39

@BCBG :) aww :D Hope your DD is ok, has she got any plans?

@sammyjoanne I'm only given info on a need to know basis GrinShe says she's def staying there for lockdown and has already booked an online shop for her flat in case catering stops - but surely if yeh campus is open heh catering will keep going?

BCBG · 31/10/2020 21:53

Excuse typos - watching Strictly on catch up 😂

ShaunaTheSheep · 31/10/2020 22:01

DS and his 12 flat mates are dressed as the twelve disciples and Jesus for Halloween 🎃 He's gone for the classic headgear of a tea towel secured with a belt.

Love the description of a campus as the magic faraway tree. Smile

sammyjoanne · 31/10/2020 22:27

@BCBG Ghost adventures on Really channel here :) pretty sure catering will continue :)

Lol shauna Love it :)

People wanting to send Christmas trees and advent calendars remember to check out Parcel2go. I got DS a plastic poinsettia from Ikea today, that will be winging its way with some brownies, pringles and pork scratchings. Like the idea of a mini tree.

Hoghgyni · 01/11/2020 12:57

The Snaffling Pig does a pork scratchings advent calendar monkey.

MillicentMartha · 01/11/2020 13:10

Thanks @Hoghgyni for that info. I had guessed as much but it’s as well to see it in black and white.

MillicentMartha · 01/11/2020 13:11

That’s the guidance, not the pork scratchings advent calendar! Grin

MillicentMartha · 01/11/2020 14:34

Just heard from DS. All in his flat of 8 are staying put, thankfully. He’s just gone out with them in 2x4 to get a meal out, their first as a flat, (and last for a while!)

choirmumoftwo · 01/11/2020 15:40

DD and her housemates are staying put I'm delighted to report. She has an appointment at the end of the month which she'll struggle to get to under her own steam so I've promised to take her.

Hoghgyni · 01/11/2020 16:18

I double checked my link at that point!
Thatsnotmine · 01/11/2020 17:54

I have just spoken to DS to see how he is getting on. His townhouse has been in self insolation due to a flat mate testing positive and this ends tomorrow; so at midnight tonight all his housemates are going for a walk as technically it's Monday Grin. He's also off to do laundry, a food shop and finally use the Costa gift card I got him.

ShaunaTheSheep · 01/11/2020 18:59

DS and his fellow disciples are staying put and waiting to see what Bojo comes up with. I'm happy as we are in the midst of decorating and DS2 is temporarily using his bedroom. The move into tier 3 is suspended so Leeds will stay in tier 2 until England lockdown starts on Thursday.

In other news my lovely hairdresser has moved my appointment forward by a week to fit me in on Wednesday Smile

Ironoaks · 01/11/2020 21:45

We visited DS today and took him for tea and cake.

His course is going well. It's very structured with a lot of teaching hours and short deadlines, and the work fills most of his time.

His household don't socialise together at all, but he has been quite proactive in trying lots of new activities and has met a range of other Freshers.

He seems quite content.

MillicentMartha · 01/11/2020 22:31

Content is how I’d describe my DS as well. He gets on all right with his flat. The work is ok, some has been hard but most is rehashing further maths to get those who didn’t take it up to speed. He has recorded lectures then 2 hour live but online supervisions. Nothing f2f sadly. They went for a curry today on the Curry Mile, so at least they’ve achieved that particular milestone! Wink Lamb bhuna and a keema nan. Grin

sammyjoanne · 01/11/2020 22:46

@Thatsnotmine Which college is DS in? And glad the isolation ends soon as well. When DD isolation ended in her townhouse, they went for a bimble down to Galgate which should have been about hour there and back, but ended up being about 3 hours lol
