Television Licence

My dd is in halls and has a room in a flat of four and they share a communal kitchen.

If she was to buy a tv licence would it just cover her room or the whole flat? She could choose to put her tv in the communal area and they all use it, but would probably want it in her room. But then if her flat mates all want a telly too would they all have to buy separate licences for their room? It seems a very expensive option if that is the case, where by if you buy a licence for a house/flat normally you could have as many tellies as you like in that building.

I'm just curious as she's going to get a licence whatever, I just wondered if it would save her flatmates some money by having their tellies covered by her licence. (I hope this makes sense).

What if I live in a house or flat share?]]
If you have a separate tenancy agreement for your room, you’ll need your own TV Licence too.

Thanks, I'm such a Dime bar! I actually had that page up at the time of posting and didn't see that paragraph. Grin . So I wonder who would be responsible for a licence for just one television that is kept in a communal area, surely that wouldn't require everyone in the flat to buy a licence? Maybe it would.
