hi

My Ds is in Y11 and starting to think about next year, he's currently at an independent school doing 9 iGcses and an EPQ A/S. He's rugby crazy and would like careers professional player but will consider physio as a career ,if he doesn't make it.
Hes convinced that he's best off going to a local college and doing sports science advance BTEC diploma as he can get into physio that way. Is he right?
I would have thought that A levels would be more straightforward and easier than aiming for 3 straight distinctions.

He's bright but lacks confidence and is a typical boy last minute cramming which is resulting in him getting ok to really good marks.
Would love to know what you think or if you have experience of the BTEC

I think a levels would be better for becoming a physio, in particular biology. However look at the careers website and they should have more specific info. What grades at gcse is he predicted?

He's not got predicted grades yet but I s working at consistent 8-7 across the board with possible 9s in maths, physics and biology

Take care with doing BTECs - he'd need to do the right modules, and colleges tend not to offer a choice of which ones to do. Check the entry requirements of physio degrees - A level Biology better option. Bet he'd prefer Sports BTEC though!
