Hello - DD is considering these three universities and we have never even been to these cities, let alone the actual universities!

i was wondering, if anyone is familiar with these universities, could you please let me know whether we'd be able to walk around the outsides just to get a feel for them, if we go on a visit to the city?

Thank you.

The city itself, IMO, has more to offer than either Oxford or Cambridge centres.

Cambridge has a good open air market and Oxford a good covered one.

York has the National Railway Museum, though.

If the three universities were genuinely a free choice, I'd be proper tornGrin

I love York as a city. It was too close to home for DD, and she just didn't want to be at a campus university. Living rurally she wanted to be in a city, which she is now.

University of Sheffield's not a campus university but most of the departments are clustered around Weston Bank, as is the Student's Union, whilst Sheffield Hallams buildings are closer to the centre of town. If you do come to Sheffield maybe also have a look at the Broomhill/Hunters Bar/Crookes areas as these are the big student areas.

York is totally magnificent!
