October A levels anyone?

With so many getting results they were disappointed with, are any DS/DD's choosing to take the October A levels ?

Are they taking all their A levels or just one or two?

How are they planning to motivate themselves with exams only 50 days away? DC has not opened a book since March... eek!

I may need some hand holding!!

Thanks everyone!

@Skerryberry I think you can get replacement certificates but you have to go straight to Ofqual or the exam boards. I'd try that. Just remind them that Gavin WillIstillhaveajob pledged that you could pick whichever grade you wanted to go forward with. I think everyone's forgotten that - I'm sure GW has!

This certificate thing is so confusing. I was on the phone to OCR this morning and held on for 30 minutes but then had to go out.
I've emailed them and will let you know of any response.

I've just managed to get through to OCR and was advised that they are currently working on trying to issue certificates showing candidate's best result from summer/Autumn. There will be no cost for this and should reach the exam centres by 26th March 2021. Other exam boards may just issue Autumn exam certificates but then if you want a replacement showing just the highest grade (as in Skerryberry's example above), together with any other CAGS, you may need to pay.

Thanks @rbsk12. Hopefully this will be the same for edexcel. It should be the same across all the exam boards.

For some families, £50 for an exam certificate is huge.

Yes £50 for a certificate is certainly a lot.

I think there will definitely be a "free" certificate issued for every Autumn exam taken and then potentially a charge for replacements showing highest grades. But as you say @Skerryberry there should be a uniform policy across exam boards so hopefully no one will have to pay - replacement or otherwise.

For the exam officer to suggest that no certificates will be issued at all and for candidates to pay for one evidencing they even sat the exam is just ridiculous.

@kitnkaboodle congrats to him, that's really impressive and career back on track yippee.Wine

May I ask what type of college was it that you had as your contingency plan that offered a Jan-Jun course? Is it local to you or is it an online provider. My Dd is trying to study Chem A level at home at the mo and not doing too well as there is nobody to turn to when she is stuck on anything.
