Well, it’s been a crazy few days.

I called Bristol Uni but no answer - said they were closed.

specialted · 13/08/2020 09:22

ABB here, moderated down from AAA but happy with that. A was in weakest subject. Lots of unhappy people at school. School are going to do a mass appeal on behalf of students who in is encouraging. Relieved it's over , ds happy

Bouledeneige · 13/08/2020 09:23

My best friend's daughter got up at 8am, said the results weren't up yet and has gone back to bed. My pal knows her login for UCAS but doesn't dare login without her DD's permission. How shit is that?

Justyou · 13/08/2020 09:24

Leaving this here

DD was predicted BBB/ABB she had got an A in one mock high B in the other.

She ended up getting CDD.

Her firm Liverpool have rejected her and Sussex have offered a foundation year but I think we are going to have to sit down and discuss everything. She is in absolute bits. I dont understand how this is even possible.

Cam77 · 13/08/2020 09:25

@PavlovianPooch
That’s ridiculous. Basically she’s been punished because her school might have overpredicted her, based on their history. Basically just guess work. Students at average schools get punished. Students at the best schools get their dream grades. Will there be a single student in the entire country at a run of the mill school getting three As?

People are shopping, going to the beaches in their thousands etc. They let people people pack into concerts in their thousands, but they can’t arrange safely a few exams. China held 10 million exams in July and have also contained the virus 10 times better than the UK.

MidLifeCrisis007 · 13/08/2020 09:26

I'm so sorry to hear of the disappointments that some of you and your DCs are experiencing today. There has been widespread criticism of the mock result safety net, but it should hopefully work to many DC's advantages based on posts here today.

DS's results were as expected.... and I haven't heard of any surprises at all from his cohort. The results seem bang in line with expectations.

He's going to pass on his Durham offer though and go down the bumpy Oxbridge route again...... just when I thought the stressing was all over!!

Cam77 · 13/08/2020 09:29

@HerstoryInTheMaking
That’s farcical. I would be writing to my MP every day or protesting outside the government buildings.

Railingsohno · 13/08/2020 09:29

Original predictions BCC and he worked his socks off and got BBC. Delighted 💗 Going to query one as he only just missed an A in his mock. But he’s into his firm and we’re hoping to upgrade through clearing. He has the grades needed, application online is in 🤞 Feel so emotional it’s been a long road as a very dyslexic boy doing mainly essay subjects.

Now off to read everyone else’s results!

Newgirls · 13/08/2020 09:29

Bristol uni can’t be closed - perhaps phones overwhelmed

MrsMcMuffins · 13/08/2020 09:30

What a shit show. DD and DH at school now. Students with predicted As downgraded to Ds. I am so shocked.

Cam77 · 13/08/2020 09:30

“The results seem bang in line with expectations”
I’m pleased for you, but sounds like plenty on here have been screwed by the system. I expect bang in line with expectations varies from region to region or postcode to postcode.

HerstoryInTheMaking · 13/08/2020 09:31

@Cam77

Oh believe me I will.

I feel like DD and others are being punished for going to a Comp in South London. The average attainment is DDD at my DD's sixth form.

KingscoteStaff · 13/08/2020 09:33

@Campervan69 Bristol clearing phone stations have just been shown on BBC, so keep trying!

Hollyhead · 13/08/2020 09:35

I’m from an HEI - please contact your universities, they may well still want you - honestly they need every student they can get with the dip in overseas students and also demographically the number of 18 year olds is low.

mushroom3 · 13/08/2020 09:36

A downgraded to C (A in mock too) B downgraded to C (B in mock, consistently working at A/B boundary) C downgraded to D working at B/C. Appealing. Missed both Uni offers. (ABB and BBB offers) .Large inner city comp. Are others who've been massively downgraded similar school type?

Railingsohno · 13/08/2020 09:36

Sorry to hear people are having a nightmare.

Maladicta · 13/08/2020 09:36

Ds downgraded in two but his first choice has still accepted him, thank goodness. School are bemused by the grades that have been awarded to a number of students - many are a grade lower and this is at a high-achieving grammar which historically gets a v high percentage of A - A*.

sunglasses123 · 13/08/2020 09:38

If DDD has been given instead of AAA there is clearly something wrong. But in the nicest possible way that might be because the teachers overpredicted massively!

Otherwise appeal

Lightuptheroom · 13/08/2020 09:38

DS in pieces CCD when his last mocks were BBC , still has an unconditional which he now doesn't particularly want. He's in college at the moment trying to get it all worked out, this is a small indie but their information doesn't include what to do to appeal on basis of mocks

DuckyMcDuck · 13/08/2020 09:38

DS got Warwick. AAA but his teacher's predictions were 3 A.
His friends have had some really odd results though real high flyers getting moderated down, some by 2 levels - grammar school

LittleBearPad · 13/08/2020 09:43

Did he want the place before he got his results?
wineandsunshine · 13/08/2020 09:43

Shit show here - predicted B,B,B and got CCC....he’s not a happy bunny.
