Well, it’s been a crazy few days.

Oh what a horrible sleepless hot night of bad dreams!! DD still asleep, has opted to go in to school rather than get results via email. Then meeting up with friends for a day of free Nando's and cheap drinks at Wetherspoons. So any family celebration/commiseration will be tomorrow. She did well in her November mocks but they had another set just before lockdown which were not so good, so how will that work? Presumably teachers already took all this into account. What a complete and utter fuck up. I feel sorry for these kids and sorry for teachers/school staff as well.

@Twofigures

DH is a teacher. Results confirm 40% of CAGs downgraded, some by 2 grades (they were lowest ranked in a grade). Terrified for my own DS who is expecting his own in 45 mins.
That's awful Twofigures Sad
Hassled · 13/08/2020 07:21

I feel like I've been awake for days - DS didn't finish work till midnight so I will feel bad waking him at 8 ( as he asked me to) but I've been stressing for hours. This is the fourth and last time I've been through this hell - each time I seem to get more stressed. He needs AAA.

That’s awful. What a njghtmare.

@KaptainKaveman as a teacher he’s devastated for his students. He is in a subject that is moderated every year and never once had marks changed. It’s a high performing selective grammar. Says results in every subject the same - 40% lowered. None increased - what a surprise!

lilgreen · 13/08/2020 07:23

Good luck to you all. Was me last year albeit a very different year. DD 2 ha gcse results next Thursday .

Twofigures · 13/08/2020 07:24

I just hope the universities really are “super flexible” as ucas have said they will be. It’s so unfair for young people

Bouledeneige · 13/08/2020 07:24

Good luck everyone. I've been awake since 6am. No noise yet from DS. Very nervous now I've heard about the downgrading - worried how my DS will react if its not good.

Serin · 13/08/2020 07:25

DS cool as a cucumber here.
"Dont worry Mum, I've got this".
All 3 of ours have been home for lockdown and leave in Sept.
(If all goes to plan)

KingscoteStaff · 13/08/2020 07:27

The heavens have just opened here - apocalyptic rain and thunder!

Cafeconleche · 13/08/2020 07:27

😱 @Twofigures I have to wake my DS up in 5 minutes (ready for school email and Track at 8pm) and I am stressed out beyond belief

nicky2512 · 13/08/2020 07:28

Waiting for 8 to come here too (in Northern Ireland).
Our education minister seems to be only one to insist what exam board gives is what they get. No alternatives. Great.
Good luck everyone.

Twofigures · 13/08/2020 07:28

@Cafeconleche I am too. DS has informed me he will get up at “normal time” (aka lunchtime). I will be commando crawling into his room to check his emails at 8pm I think!

Twofigures · 13/08/2020 07:28

Oops 8am!!

Tingalingle · 13/08/2020 07:29

DD is serenely asleep.

I think I’ll just leave her to it.

We are NI too. It has been terribly handled.
lockd0wn101 · 13/08/2020 07:32

Good luck everyone. AAA needed here. Trying not to read stories of massive CAG downgrades. DS asleep!

spababe · 13/08/2020 07:35

Apparently, Ofqual have pulled out of an 8:15am press conference

Cafeconleche · 13/08/2020 07:35

@Twofigures DS has just woken up, given me a hug, gone back to his room to prepare to log on and told me he does not wish to be disturbed... This is agony! Good luck to everyone’s DC 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Snozzlemaid · 13/08/2020 07:37

Dd just up here. In the bathroom so don't know if she's checked emails yet.
This wait is awful.

Justyou · 13/08/2020 07:37

Good luck everyone

Snozzlemaid · 13/08/2020 07:40

Yes. Good luck all.

Newgirls · 13/08/2020 07:40

Ofqual put out a statement yesterday saying they were looking into how to process the appeals for early next week. Next week! No wonder they have decided not to do a press thing!

Russell Group said if anyone misses their first choice to RING them.

Good luck all! DD dancing around house at moment to use up some energy. She’s usually at work so ok with early starts!

Campervan69 · 13/08/2020 07:40

Up at 6am here too. DS needs AAB. His predicted grades were A*AA. He was working so hard. Will be devastated if he doesn't get what he needs.

BadlydoneHelen · 13/08/2020 07:41

Long term lurker here- good luck everyone and their DC. I feel sick so goodness knows how my DD feels
