To do it or not to do it (master online)

Hi all,

I need some of your wisdom on this issue. Recently I've applied for a master degree on tv scriptwriting. I was so excited about it as I want to star a career on that field. It starts in October, but although I haven't received any update on that matter, I am almost sure they're going to make it online instead of the face to face learning I was expecting.

This leaves with the disyuntive of what to do. Leave it for next year so there is more possibilities it will face to face or just do it and hope it would be as a rewarding.

Main issue with being completely online is that I think I'm not going to build that network with the others students.

Main issue with waiting a year is that I am 33 so not very young really to start a new career, and maybe not that good to wait and add up to my age.

Really hope you can give me any new insight about this, or if you don't have an opininion on this, maybe you can give me some tips about how you make decisions, as you can see, I'm really rubbish at that Grin

Thank you so much for your help

Luna, that’s a tricky one. If you won’t get the contacts you need, I’d be tempted to wait a year. 33 isn’t too old, I don’t think.

I'd wait and get the contacts, one year older won't make a lot of difference in the great scheme of things.

Also, I'd be dubious of a course that has just been put online at the last minute. Good online courses are hard to write and take a lot of prep - the OU takes 2 years to prepare a course for online delivery and these courses have had a couple of months at the most. I'd also bet a lot of the lecturers are new to online pedagogies and while they will do their best, the end result may be less than perfect.

Thank you both! That's what I was thinking. I definitely going to wait a year more.
