Anyone with DC on Erasmus Scheme This Year?

DD has completed 2 parts of a 3 part placement abroad as an Erasmus student, but hasn't received a penny of the funding to which she is entitled. This is largely due to administrative problems which she found impossible to solve. She is a 3rd yr Modern Language student (and not terribly assertive).

She did a 2 month work placement in Spain, filled in her part of the necessary paperwork and got her sponsor to do the same. Apparently, this lady had missed out one signature on the back of the document, so Erasmus won't pay. DD has tried to make contact with the original signatory but she seems to have moved on.

She then completed a semester at a German university. The professor who is supposed to be the Erasmus contact there refuses to have anything to do with the scheme and gets one of his students to do the administration. Needless to say she does not have the authority to sign anything, so once again DD gets nothing.

Then she went to France for another work placement, but got sent home early. She had to pay the full rental (is still paying) and also the flights, but as she wasn't there long enough she doesn't qualify.
Has anyone else any experience of difficulty in getting money from this scheme?

OP, I am sorry to hear about your dd. My dd applied and had no difficulty. The funding was confirmed before she went to Italy and her university assisted the students with their applications.

@bevelino There was no problem with the application, just getting the actual money. She seemed to have to do a lot of paperwork when in situ but Erasmus won't accept it as they claim it is incomplete, through no fault of hers. The scheme does not seem to be well run at all. I'm sure it would be more straightforward if the DC were in one location only, and with a sympathetic contact once there. She could manage without it but she should not let them get away with not paying her money to which she is entitled. I can't believe she is the only person in this situation.

@simbobs I will ask dd if she knows anyone who has not received their funding and how it was resolved.

@bevelino, thank you so much.

@simbobs, my dd said she doesn’t know anyone who didn’t receive the first half of the award, but that she hasn’t yet received the second part, which is due even though she had to leave Italy. Dd is hoping the funding will come through as she is still enrolled at the Italian University and is receiving online tuition and taking exams at the moment.

I hope your dds award comes through.
