When to apply for Uni accommodation

When do you apply for Uni accommodation. DC to start uni this September but doesn't know if he will get grades for firm choice. Has an unconditional offer for insurance choice.

DS has applied for firm and insurance already. It does vary from uni to uni when they open their accommodation applications and only some let you apply for your insurance place before results.

Some only allow form offer holders to apply, others also insurance holders. Some are already open. Others not yet. Most won't allocate until after offer day. Dd is kicking her heels , even though she has an unconditional place.
