although he isn't from a very wealthy family he does have a posh accent

Why does he have a posh accent? And does the fact that he does affect the validity of what he says?

DD is there (well, not right now!) in the final year of a four year integrated Masters. Very bog standard comp, and when some of her more expensively educated peers see her grades they are properly impressed. So having an ordinary background can be an advantage.
Go with an open mind. Undoubtedly some of the public school bunch are 'clueless' according to DD. But equal numbers are lovely, and happy to mix with anyone. So go with the flow and get involved!

Durham was always my first choice. Amazing med programme and I was in Stephenson which meant no stupid gowns or shared rooms, or forced dining. Look at the other things not the 'tradition'
