...to work out my average so far with the implementation of a no detriment marking scheme?

Only averages from semester one of the final year will be counted if Mark's from semester 2 would lower the average as of 15th March when teaching effectively stopped. If we do well the Mark's from semester 2 will count, if not, they will be disregarded apart from the dissertation.

If I give you my Mark's from year two and my marks from sem 1 of third year, can anyone tell me where I am, basically?

Year 2, 25% and I got 67%

Year 3, sem 1. 68% in one module. 80% in another module and 68% in my dissertation proposal which is worth 15% of the dissertation. Dissertation is worth 40% of year 3.

Clear as mud? Third year worth 75% of degree classification.

Hmmm, it's slightly tricky because it may depend on how they are calculating the average (there may be other things to take into account than just the numbers). For example, most unis will have a policy where final year will be weighted more than 2nd year and I don't know how that will actually play out in this scenario. Do you have any guidance on the Uni website for how final marks are ordinarily calculated (eg. weighted average, do you have to score a set number of 1st/2.1s in order to get that grade)?

Do you have any more indications on how they would determine borderline grades? There are always some guidelines on this in the uni regs

It's pretty hard to say for sure because it really does depend on how you're going to do in the dissertation, but I would say that the overall trajectory you are on looks like it's borderline first, that 80 could count for a lot, and 68 for the proposal bodes really well.
If you are on track for a 68 for the dissertation overall then I would honestly say you're on track for around a 70% ie a first. I did try to work it all out but my maths is not the best. However depending on your uni regs they v often will round up a 68%ish average - although it sometimes does also depend on actual grades in each semester so I can't say for sure. In cases of mit circs (and I just don't know - this may well be counted as one!) they may also look at an outstanding grade like your 80% and say, well, this person could have gone on to do amazing things if the situation had been a bit different, so we will give them the benefit of the doubt and round up. I think it may be worth your getting in touch with the uni to clarify, especially if there are any individual circs you need to have taken into account. All the best - I know it is tough to be a finalist in this horrible situation.

I had a phone call with my supervisor about my dissertation because face to face is a no go and I did just ask if I was in ok grade territory and she said I had nothing to worry about.

I think you can safely say you have a 2:1 assuming your dissertation Mark is 60+.

Thanks guys. Dissertation is 40 credits. Four other modules of 20 each. Last year there were 6 modules of 20 credits. Couldn't be doing, faffing about with ten credit modules x
