Lecturer constantly super slow with feedback

I have one lecturer who is constantly slow getting feedback back to us. I'm still waiting for feedback on an assignment I handed in on 4th Jan. We have the grades and they've been approved/added to the transcript yet no feedback.

I could really use it as I did extremely well in this assignment (88%) and I have another one due in in May that's quite similar so I want to see what I did right!

It's been every assignment with him. It's been over two months! We tried going to the student rep last year and nothing has changed. He's the Head of the course so unless I go to the head of department I have no-one to speak to. Am I being unreasonable for being fed up now?

It's my last semester before graduation and I'm working my arse off to get a first and I feel like not getting timely feedback isn't helping!

Hi @QuestionableMouse- any update on this?

Sorry for bumping an older thread :0 but I can across it while looking form something else and just wondered.

CalliopeCat · 31/03/2020 13:19

FOR ffs :(

QuestionableMouse · 31/03/2020 16:46

Nope. Still waiting. We've made a joint complaint to the head of department who is looking into it.

I'm honestly totally fed up with it now. We're heading towards the end of the second semester while waiting for feedback from the first!

Found this thread being frustrated at my OU course and having a really rough year due to the tutor being essentially AWOL and no prompt feedback. Amazed it is allowed to happen so rampantly, not feeling comforted. I hope this was resolved one way or another for you (seeing it is a two year old thread).

@MoreMia aauming you have already contacted the tutor with no luck, just contact the SST. Generally feedback is within 10- 15 working days which is quicker than many universities.

Well, so did I when I was a student, but I actually counted the numbers who’d accessed their feedback on a core first year module I taught last year. 28 students out of 87.

It took me till level 2 that I even knew where to access the feedback.
When its all online sometimes its not obvious

Make an appointment in his office hours or email and ask for an appointment, saying specifically you’re interested in feedback on that assignment.

if your university ensures anonymous marking you’ll need to take a copy of the essay/ assignment along with you, as he won’t know which assignment is yours.

Does the OU do office hours?

It is really annoying, isn't it? He did get better through the course but was always on the slower side. I've no idea about the OU unfortunately but I'd speak to the person above the lecturer and see about making a formal complaint.

Do they not have office hours? Could you take the assignment in to their office hours and ask what they felt worked that led to the good grade, so you can replicate it.
