Kings has 26000 students of whom 8000 are overseas. Leeds has 33500 students of whom 9000 are overseas. Anecdotes are interesting but not fact.

Rents in Bristol are rising faster than anywhere in the country.

As a landlord in London I am only too aware of the relative differences. Anecdotes are interesting but not fact.

Depends where the properties are though. In both cities. What’s Bristol got to do with it anyway? The thread is about Leeds or Kings. Leeds is cheaper than London. No doubt about that!

BubblesBuddy Did you mean to be so rude?
My reply was in context to you saying your DD only met students from Yorkshire on her applicant day!
And of course DD knows where her hall mates (in 1st year), friends etc are from as she has visited lots of them at home for parties/meet-ups over the last 3+ years

LillianGish glad to hear your DD is okay. My DD1 felt very similar when she first came home. It is unfortunately more common than we expected. At least 2nd round they have an unconditional offer and it was much easier to get first choice accommodation for DD. She was very nervous starting again in case it went pear-shaped again, but a very different experience second time round. Just ensure your DD keeps busy from now until September and keeps visiting friends and enjoying life.

hellsbells - you think that my post was rude? You must live in an alternative world. You actually said that most of the students your DD had met were from London or Surrey, plus overseas. You did not qualify that statement by saying they were mates in halls. If she has met hundreds of students at sport, clubs, on the bus or even in lecture halls then knowing where all had come from would be unbelievable. When you break it down into a tiny chunk (which is of course hearsay and not fact about the university) then it makes sense as it did about DDs offer day. Obviously being from the south I’m persona non grata! Hey ho!
