Crashing Freshers Events

I am starting a new thread because it is slightly off topic from the “our dcs are nearly all officially students” thread.

Dd4 doesn’t start university until 13 October and is feeling left out as most of her friends have started.

Dd2 is in her second year at Bristol and is returning today to do freshers week all over again and dd4 has invited herself to Bristol to crash in dd2’s shared house.

How easy will it be for dd4 to get into freshers events if she is not a student at the university and is this a bad idea?

Well, since time immemorial older students have gone to Freshers' events. (second year boys who hadn't managed to get a girlfriend swarm into Freshers' )
The question might be tickets. Priority usually given (obviously) to Freshers themselves, then students of that university.

Seems pretty pointless if it's in terms of meeting new people at dd4 university and joining things.
If it's just attending big parties, it depends on the event whether they want proof of uni status and fresher status. I keep seeing adverts on my freshers page for big London fresher events, they probably are not checking all student Id (beyond you are over 18)

My DDs went to Liverpool for a freshers event earlier in the week with some friends who are at the uni. Didn’t have any problems as friends got their tickets. DD1 is going to stay with DD2 at her uni this week with the intention of going to more events. They have always visited each other and friends at other unis and never had any problem.
Hope your DD enjoys herself

Thank you for your replies everyone. I think dd4 will take her chances and go to Bristol with dd2. I think her own uni freshers week starts on the 6th October and lectures start on 14th.

This did cause a lot of upset at DS's uni. he wasn't bothered but there was annoyance across the freshers' body that they couldn't get into events because second and third years were getting in. There were huge queues and people who had bought the expensive wristbands weren't being admitted because of numbers reaching max.
