Nursing Uni applications...

Sorry if posting in the wrong area...

I am currently studying an access to nursing course and would be needing to decide what area I want to specialise in to apply for university eg. Adult or child nursing, my absolute dream would be Midwifery but feel as though this limits me massively and there isn't a great deal of unis around me that offer this (I have a baby so have to stay close to home)

What areas of nursing are there if I did adult or child nursing and which is more likely to have employment at the end of the course?

Thank you in advance Smile

In adult nursing as long as you aren't a criminal and can competently care for your patients you will have your pick of jobs at the moment. I think people generally see which placements they enjoy most and go from there.

I'm in the middle of my adult nursing degree and I love it, so many different options. You can work with kids after and you can also do an 18 month midwifery top up so you can be a midwife and a nurse. I think adult is best cos you can do the most with it :) p.s the access course is harder than uni!!

Adult nursing will give you more options in the future but I would advise you not to become a nurse. There are 44K vacancies for a reason!

It's completely unfamily friendly too

If you train as an adult nurse you can still work in NICU or as a nurse with health visitors, adult nursing has a lot more options.

I'm a nurse and work in the private sector, as above many nursing jobs aren't family friendly hours but there are some and employers are becoming more and more flexible as they are simply desperate for qualified staff!
