Help study abroad insurance ?

Dad off to Canada in 10 days.

Needs travel insurance and insurance for instruments.

Struggling to sort this out and she doesn’t think the “ study abroad office “ will be any help.

Where to look ?

I went to study abroad over 20 years ago but we were urged by the university to take out a comprehensive policy with Endsleigh Insurance which at the time was thought to be the best on the market. Worth giving them a call. My uni said it was important to ensure we had repatriation cover in the unlikely event of anything going seriously wrong.

My DS also off to Canada next week (British Columbia) and he suddenly told me yesterday that he'd had a detailed email and message from his year abroad tutor at his UK uni to complete all the forms as his home uni provides travel insurance. We've duly done this.
We've already had the medical insurance details through from UBC.
Not sure about contents but thought it was covered in his Hall so will need to double check that.

Why does she think the study abroad office won't be able to help? What does she think they actually do?

Her home uni study abroad team will definitely be able to help. She should have a dedicated tutor just for this reason that she should be contacting if they haven't been in touch already - especially if she goes next week like my DS.

Try Allianz. They have a specialist musical instrument insurance arm and they also do study abroad policies, so I'm sure they'd be able to give you a quote for both.
