That you can do from home, an in-your-own time one? If you've done one, has it paid off??

I have been looking around, and there's a few, but I don't want to get ripped off.

I've done one and got ripped off. It cost me £450.00 and when I'd passed it, I got nothing. There's very little out there for free-lance proof-readers unless you specialize in something academic.

It's a shame, because it's something I'm very capable of doing ... but I'd advice against.

Why don't you write a book. From what I've read of your posts, you seem more than capable to me.

... or even advise against.

Ha ha ha ha ha

I suspect that most are rip offs. In the end, where would you get your work from? Most organisations that require proof readers tend to farm it out to people they have known for years such as retired employees/people taking career breaks.

lol! you should have proof-read that Des!

I was afraid of that, tbh, that they are cons.

I was hoping it might work, because it seemed something easy to do from home.

I do write, Des - have even started a couple of books, but not followed through. I don't think there'd be much interest tbh.

Same here, twopence. I just can't seem to get the plot right.

MyTwopenceworth · 03/08/2007 12:24

And I've totally lost the plot.....
