Oxford 2019 Offer Holders

I appreciate there have been similar threads, but I thought it may be nice to start a new thread to support those Mumsnetters going through the stress of results day with their DCs. For those of whom have conditional offers, of course.

My DS only has 5 days and 14 hours until his future is revealed 😂 of course I'm not on count down mode.
He is Scottish and finds out at 8am on Tuesday 6 August , by text, email and certificates in the post (delivery around 9.30am). It's all very organised for Scottish qualifications.

He has a law offer with requirements of AAB at Advanced Highers. We are feeling positive as he achieved AAA in his mocks, but of course there is still uncertainty hanging over his head. His back up is an unconditional offer from Edinburgh for Scots law which isn't too shabby.

How is everyone else feeling/coping? ......And their DCs of course? If anyone has already gone through this, what should we expect from the colleges come results day?

Congratulations to Aurea and her DS on his law place.

GoodbyeStranger - the Durham insurance place was for theology so I suspect a less subscribed course than many others and definitely less subscribed than history. It was 3 years back. She just graduated with a first and is off to Cambridge for postgrad!

@Aurea - congratulations to your DS. How's he landing on spending the next few weeks? Quite a while before term starts?

Aurea · 07/08/2019 08:55

Thanks Sandy et al

He will be doing the prereading, I guess. He's also learning to drive (still only 17 - Scottish students go to university earlier) and he also volunteers for CAB.

I guess it will fly by.....

Aww. Thanks Coleoptera. I'll be keeping my eye on your update on A level results day, hoping for good news for your DTs.

Coleoptera - thank you for updating the forum on your DTs. Your posts are so open, honest and informative - you sound incredibly supportive.

DS is getting anxious about the 15th. His Cambridge offer is two A stars and an A but he’s not confident he’ll make the grades.

Durham is his insurance and he’s hopeful he’s got the A Star A A he needs but is still preparing for clearing just in case.

GCSE results to follow for DD the following week.....

Aurea - many congrats to your DS - you must be so proud.

Congratulations @Aurea this is great news. We are waiting ‘calmly’ for results on Thursday (for Cambridge)

Aurea · 12/08/2019 23:28

Thanks Lillli

Hope you also get great news on Thursday! 🍀
