Doing exams & having a new born

Not sure if I'm in the right section.

Have any of you sat exams when you've had a baby? How old was your baby?

I'm used to working full-time and studying part-time, but doing exams and having a very young baby at the same time will be a different matter!

Just wondering what other people's experiences of this are. Is it manageable if you have a supportive family to assist?

Hi NOC.
This will get more notice taken of it if you post in Student Parents.Lots of MNers in your boat.

Thanks very much Moondog. So far I'm having a good pregnancy. Hopefully, I'll quickly adjust to having a little one as well.

Hello. A friend of my dh's had a newborn when she did some exams as part of her MA. She was allowed to sit the exam in a separate room, with breaks for bf if needed. Contact your institution in good time, and explain that you will need special arrangements for exams. Try to work out exactly what you will need (e.g. somewhere to feed, somewhere to change a nappy, whatever) and explain this from the start. The institution will want to help, but they may not think of everything unless you tell them). Also talk to the Welfare Officer in the Students' Union. They may also have some good ideas. Good luck.
