Guildhall or RADA for Technical Theatre

My DD has been offered places at both Guildhall and RADA to study Technical Theatre in September. She has always been interested in the backstage "techy" side of theatre. We are very proud of her to have two offers to consider. However, she is in a quandary about which one to choose as she liked them both. She also has an interview at LAMDA this week but feels less positive about this course as they do not seem to do as much scenic art.

Wondering if anybody on here has experience of TT courses at these establishments or if they've been through the courses there themselves.

Would be most interested to hear some independent views on these very good universities for technical theatre.

Many thanks.

Both good options and it depends what your DD is looking for. My Dc is at Guildhall on the technical theatre pathway; does some but not much scenic art, which is mainly in a different pathway. She felt RADA was more generalist - which maybe what your DD is looking for. But both seem great. Good luck to her choosing!

I work for another drama school on a technical course. Both Guildhall and RADA are great options. The main difference is RADA is more general to start with whereas as Guildhall you have to specialise straight away. So the question is does she want to keep her options more open? Many students discover that the thing they thought they liked best isn't any more once they have done more of it.
The other main difference is Guildhall does opera if that is of interest.
