GP appointments during hols for Uni students

DS is home from uni but needs a gp appointment. If he has signed on with a gp at uni, does that 'de-register' him from his original home practice? Hope that makes sense.

Yes it does. He would see his home town GP as a temporary resident. This was a right ball ache for us so we switched it back!

It does but you can register as a temporary patient at a local GP if needed.

That's great. Thanks for your help!

This just happened to my ds. If they are home for 14+ days they can register as a temporary resident.

My ds is moving back to his home GP as appointments at his university surgery are weeks away.

My DS struggled to get an appointment at uni surgery where he had been registered for two years. He eventually just registered as a temporary patient at home surgery and got seen during Christmas break.

i find this so annoying - dd medication which she needs to get monthly - so every holiday she needs to use her old gp as a temp patient - i do not understand why students cannot be registered at 2 surgeries
