Hi Ladies!
I want to return to uni and iam starting my access course this sept, i went to enrol last week and the tutor asked me if i was claiming benefit, i said no, as i am not, however i would be entitled to study for free if i was claiming, as i am not working,so should i be? do you think its fair for me to claim for free study? the other benefit would be a subsidised nursery place, we are not strapped for cash but every little helps! so what should i do? have any of you found yourselves in this position, how do i claim benefit......? cheers

Is it full or part time ?? Round here full time courses are free anyway.

Do you get WTC ? If your partners income is lower than around £15000 you might get the course for free and if higher than that they usually do a sliding scale, well round here they do anyway.

if your partner is working then you probably won't be entitled to any benefits, however, they will take his wage into account, if he earns less than £20k (check that out).

i did claim jobseekers allowance once and my DH was earning a respectable wage. I was genuinely looking for work mind you and i enrolled on a course and did'nt need to pay for it.

You need to go to your local jobcentre and ask them what you are entitled to.
