Hi,
I’ve just started this course earlier in the month... has anybody else here done this? Silly question but how much study did you do in your own time?
I’m reading and teaching myself the basics of pharmacology but fear because I’m not studying every night I’m not doing enough?! I know the course is notoriously difficult! Uni have not been helpful so far in guiding us and we are all obviously new to it so I have no one to ask!
Any hints or tips greatly appreciated Smile

I teach pharmacology on a V300 course. Happy to answer any specific questions you have (not "Can you explain pharmacology to me?").

I would say you need to make the most of learning opportunities that present themselves when you're in practice: get into the habit of looking up and making notes on the drugs your patients are taking. If you're in a specialist field you'll have to look more broadly, of course. Sometimes you might have to take time to go over some basic medical science to make sure you understand it. Pharmacokinetics doesn't make much sense if you don't know in a bit of detail what the liver & kidneys do, for example.

I have a few books on order and actually have a maths tutor booked...

How hard it the maths exam? As this is my most worry x

The maths was the easiest part! Honestly they want you to pass , they didnt make it difficult at all, very basic maths x

Best to be prepared .. but I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised! We all were
I studied in suffolk
And yes absolutely. I run long term condition clinics so prescribe all the time, it’s been a god send! X
