Interview for English at Manchester

Dd is applying for English Lit + Lang. She has had 4 offers so far which is great news. Manchester want to interview her in February and she is a bit worried about this.

Does anyhow have any experience of this and if there is anything she can do to prepare? Going from my own university experience, I imagine it's probably pretty low-key, but I'm guessing really.

I have no specific knowledge of this university or course.

But generally they want to know how she has demonstrated an interest in her subject OUTSIDE HER COURSE.

They may ask her about things she mentioned in her personal statement or is in the school reference. She should be up to date on both of these.

Is she used to discussing and debating ideas with adults as well as other teens ?

My sons' experience of interviews at Manchester is that they are recruiting interviews rather than selecting interviews; in both cases, for different courses, they were friendly chats for about 10 minutes. It's really a chance for the university to sell itself. There's a general talk about the course and modules/options etc, then in one son's case there was a subject specific lecture to give them a flavour of what they might do, and then finally a tour of the university. There's also a chance to visit accommodation I think, if you book it. Both of mine enjoyed their day.
