Prosectuses - can you get hard copies?

Daft q but we're just starting out on this journey. I really want to get hard copies of prospectuses. Do Universities send them out or do you need to download and print them? I've looked at a few University sites and can't see how to request one.

Thanks.

They'll be printed versions. Should be obvious from the website if you search 'prospectus'

RedHelenB · 06/10/2018 20:43

Dds got all hard versions through the list. Hth.

AtiaoftheJulii · 06/10/2018 23:07

Yes, they push the downloadable versions, but you should be able to find a request form for a paper version on each website. We've just had a few delivered - the paper versions are easier to browse and flick through than a website I think!

Prospectuses offer only very basic information due to the limit on space for each course plus how far ahead they have to be designed and printed. You'll get far more (and more up to date) information from the website.

I'm chuckling at this. I have ordered enough to fill a bookcase as I also prefer to flick through Grin. The other day DD questioned why I'd bothered as all the info was online Hmm. She decided it was an age thing!! Turns out she's not glanced at any of the hard copy ones!!

AtiaoftheJulii · 06/10/2018 23:35

Dd2 ordered 28 at the same time. Our poor bloody postman.

Fortunately they didn't arrive all at once! I was worried though.

Malbecfan · 07/10/2018 12:46

Mine picked them up at the UCAS convention which was in (I think) March of year 12. They hold them all over the country.

Daughters both thought it was really funny that the "need to get bums on seats institutions" were offering freebies like canvas bags, pens, sunglasses etc. whereas the prestigious places had a prospectus and admissions tutor, nothing more.

@Malbec
Your DD is perceptive and will go far.

Judging from the open day, then, Bristol obviously can't make up its mind whether it's or 'desperate' or 'prestigious', since although there were free bags there, they only seem to have been offered to a very small number of visitors.

Justanothermile · 08/10/2018 22:11

We got canvas bags, pens etc from Edinburgh, Exeter, Lancaster, Liverpool, Sheffield. I can't think of anywhere we've been that didn't.

I've got two dc going within two years, I'm well travelled!

AtiaoftheJulii · 08/10/2018 22:19

Oh we have loads of open day bags, very useful!

Actually, ds won a t-shirt at a Cambridge open day - hopefully they're not desperate Grin

Notsureabouthis · 09/10/2018 10:37

Thanks! I’ve managed to find and request loads. It was just Aberdeen I couldn’t seem to get one for which was first on the list.
