My daughter trying to buy flat in Fortress road, Kentish town. Is it a good area for her and her friends. Any information given will be great.

Without knowing your daughter and her friends I don't think anyone can answer this.

What is she studying, and where? (This is the higher education board)

horsemadmom · 02/05/2018 13:09

Clever buy! The road is gentrifying and she's making a good investment.

thanks
my daughter is second year medical student at UCL
her friends all at UCL

She would need to be aware that she might spend most of her final year based in Basildon, Luton & Dunstable, Stevenage or Watford. The first two, in particular, might not be a pleasant commute from Kentish Town. She will also be unable to predict where she will be working in the first two years after graduating. As long as she's aware that she might have to move in just over three years' time, and therefore have to sell or rent out the house, Kentish Town has a lot going for it as a place to live.

horsemadmom · 03/05/2018 09:49

KT station has a direct rail link to all of those places. Except Basildon (I think)

CrackingEggs · 03/05/2018 19:35

It's a lovely area but personally if I had the sort of money that could buy a flat on Fortess Road, I'd buy somewhere still local, but away from the traffic.

There are a few locals who go to Basildon every day, maybe you're daughter can car-pool...

QueenOfTheAndals · 03/05/2018 20:22

Wow, second year university student who can afford to buy a flat in Kentish Town? Am rather jealous tbh!

YASHCHOU · 03/05/2018 21:22

Thanks for message
Someone mentioned buying local, away from traffic. We are new to London. Which is local and less traffic. Please advise. Thanks for all suggestions

Any of the roads off Fortess really. There are a few "grids" of roads such as the ones around Lady Margaret Road or lady SomersetRoad.

I'd go to an actual local estate agent rather than a chain, Martin Gerard maybe? Maybe that's not the right spelling?

Good luck and I'm jealous!

Further on from various suggestions on Fortress road we appreciated every one 's thoughts. It is a nice area . In addition last weekend saw a flat in Camden road area . Area very close to station but sounded busy. Is it safe for girls to buy and live? Thanks in advance

Camden isn't to everyone's taste but I enjoyed living there. It's gets very busy and very touristy at weekends. A student would probably love living there.

CallaLilli · 23/05/2018 19:48

Very safe for girls to live and buy, but not many girls can afford to buy there these days!!!

YASHCHOU · 24/05/2018 13:34

Forgot to say the property we are looking is a council flat . I presume not many problems with that. Thanks for all the help here.
