University choices

Apologies if this question sounds obvious but I’m new to all this.
We were told students need to put 5 choices of Uni’s down on their application, but Can they choose the same uni twice But for different courses? So eg 1. Sheffield uni - Comp.science 2 Sheffield Un- software engineering.

It's fine (I'm reading), but there are some possible caveats, like when they will hold 2 places at one Uni. TSR is good for these kinds of Qs.

Some good advice on Quora, too.

Thanks for the TSR link. It has answered my question and more. Whilst it’s okay to apply to two related courses, in the example I gave, both courses do exactly the same modules for the first two yrs, after which students then specialise in their preferred subject, so lots of switching after the first two yrs. Therefore, no point applying for both courses. Great stuff!
