Aberystwyth University

[Shockers]

Is there anyone who went/had a child who went, or is still there, who can tell me a bit about the university culture/ social life and area.

DS2 is looking at Sport and Exercise Science. Aberystwyth's not his first choice because of the distance, but he'd like to know a bit more about it from someone with knowledge of area/ university.

Have you looked at Bangor University for sports science? It's got a very well respected department
Lots of outdoor activities on offer, mountain sports , cycling, water based activities
Bangor's a bit easier to get to Aberystwyth...which is miles from anywhere!
I live just outside Bangor and it's got a very lively student feel to it ( dead outside term time though!)

My daughter is in her 1st year at Aberystwyth and she loves it so far. She is studying Art History and Fine Art and is very happy with her decision.. It is hard to get there so visiting is tough for us especially since we live in Italy but the town is really cute and there are plenty of restaurants, grocery stores, pubs etc. The university accommodations are really nice compared to some of the other schools that we visited plus membership at the gym is included. My mother, aunt and I went to visit at the beginning of the school year and we all loved it as well. People were very friendly and it was easy to get around.
