The other thread filled up really quickly, with exciting talk of laundry, mattress toppers and lost property.

Here's where the rest of them settle in, get through freshers and the work gets serious.

Carl, GET YOUR LUMP CHECKED!!!

I don't want to worry you and it probably IS a ganglion but do get it checked.
That's all I'm saying Wink

You're right so I've booked an appointment horsemad.

Lady what a great approach - consider it stolen.

I can't keep track of you all - I read in one window and compose a reply as I go along in the other window.

Carl, best get it checked to be sure but I periodically get lumps like that on my wrist. I've had one sorted out by the GP, no operation needed. It was, indeed, a ganglion cyst.

new thread for when we've chatted all evening -

I did that maternity death thing too Lady, with DD2. In fact the medic tasked with hooking me up to some blood collapsed under the stress shouting 'She's going to die, she's going to die and it's all gonna be my fault' (I was in the Mojave Desert at the time, hence the gonna). That brought me back from the dead, so I'm really grateful to that particular army sergeant. Anyhow, same kind of you're ok so that's fine reaction. It has something to be said for it though, when you think about it. Glad you're ok now!

Carl, I had a ganglion removed when I was 17 , 30 years ago, sounds exactly like that! In the old days ( according to my mum and nan) they used to treat it by hitting it with a bible! If it is a ganglion they may try to excise it ( drain) but in the end I had mine cut out. I've an inch or so scar.

DS called to me at work to drop his washing off - he's back home for first time since leaving for uni , but was off into town to see a gig. He'll be home soon, so I'm feeling happy :) He strolled into the kitchen at work and gave me a massive hug with out asking and one when he left as well 😍.

I had a ganglion on my finger Carl, about the size of a small pea. It was there for months and then one day I noticed it had just disappeared.

Not just in the old days!

Thank you for all your ganglion stories.

I have an appointment later with my GP.

I have also had a text from DD saying she has put together a parcel to give to her DS when she visits ( with us) on Saturday and what did I think.

Contents: vodka, chocolate digestives, lynx, anti bacterial wipes ( he shares a shower room).

Phone call from dd2 she says she now wants a city uni rather than a csmpus one.

I keep expecting my DD to say that. She loved Sheffield and is now on a campus and spends half her life on the bus to town. I think campus life is growing on her though.

Come and join us here. We've survived the first half term - go us! (starting uni 2017)

My son lives in Sheffield town centre and is at Hallam, it's very convenient for everywhere. 5 mins to uni, 2 to gym, 5 to shops. 5 - 10 from the station.

Dd 2 is year 12 so still thinking about where to apply. Dd1 loves Newcastle and I went to Sheffield so I think the city experience must be in the genes when it comes to uni choices!

You've done well to get an appt so soon Carl.

I was told to see the Practice Nurse to get my wound checked between 7-10 days post op. First appt the surgery can give me is 12 days. My friend who is a nurse said that's not really ok and it should be checked before that as I have to leave the dressing from the op in place until then.

I could go back to the hospital and get it checked there - that's a 4 hr round trip!

Feeling a bit fed up at the thought of that.

Don’t hit it with a bible! I had one a few years back on the back of my hand and DH hit it with a hardback book. I thought he’d broken my wrist. Ganglion remained for a couple of years, disappeared, reappeared and went away again. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it again one day.

I've been to see my GP and she says I am indeed the proud owner of a ganglion.

Apparently it's on the large side ( bigger than a marble but not as big as a ping pong ball) but as it's neither hurting nor impeding movement she's keen to leave alone for now.

Report
HeadlessHorsemad · 27/10/2017 17:53

That's good news Carl Smile

Good news carl. If you do decide to hit it with a bible, please video it and put it on here.

Indeed Smile.

Apparently she could aspirate it ( which I assume means sticking a ruddy great needle in at sucking the juice out). But seemingly they fill up again more often than not.

Or I could have it removed by surgery. Bit that seems a bit extreme if it's not causing any bother.

It's a bit ugly - my chances of bring a hand model are gone - but apart from that it's just sorting there.

Dd seems happier this week, has been home overnight and now left again as they are celebrating Halloween tonight. The club she goes to is right next door to her flats. Anyway, a friend son got rohypnol’d last eeekend there 😱😑
I’ve given her the frights and she doesn’t drink anyway but it’s scary
