St George's Uni - basic info need, help please for tomorrow

DS is going tomorrow. He has his email & QR code thing to get in. He was told he'd get a programme and details, but nothing has arrived. He's emailed, I've emailed and we've both telephoned too. We get put through to extensions that just ring out.

Does anyone know where we need to go to get in, as I don't even know where the entrance to it is. The website is not helpful (for me anyway).

Do you mean the medical school? Not sure but am on site so can find out...

MargoLovebutter · 29/09/2017 14:35

Yes BagelDog, that's the one. Thank you.

You mean to an open day, presumably?

I don't know about this place, but most uni open days there will be plenty of people eager to help you when you get there, they'll probably scan the QR and give you a bag full of bumph, programs etc.

Did you find www.sgul.ac.uk/about-us/how-to-get-here ? I'm sure if you walk around in the right vicinity you'll bump into a student helper.

Thank you Errol - yes it is for an open day. Don't know why I couldn't find that one the website. Blush

I've done a lot of navigating uni websites in the last couple of years!Smile

MargoLovebutter · 29/09/2017 16:55

Thanks Errol. Relative novice here on first DC going through this. Most unis have been really helpful and provided all the info needed but been disappointed with St George's so far.

The main entrance to the medical school is at the back of the hospital. But if you go in the hospital main entrance which is easier to get to from bus stops and tube station, with the marks and spencer and the news agents, then go straight ahead through the lobby, past security desk on your left, come to the main corridor running left and right - you go straight ahead into hunter wing down a little corridor with a couple of lecture theatres and come out into the med school lobby with a Peabodies coffee shop and the main med school reception. They will point you in the right direction from there.

Are you driving or bus or tube? Can give directions from those too if any help?

BagelDog · 29/09/2017 17:33

Might be worth calling them as they are usually pretty good with the info - sounds like you have missed out?

@MargoLovebutter - sorry to hear that information about today's Open Day at St George's failed to reach you. My team runs the event and your son should have received several communications from us. I hope you're here and enjoying the day, but I would like to look into what happened with your son's registration so we can learn from any issues that have arisen. I'll drop you a message with my email address.

@BagelDog - many thanks indeed for the information you passed on yesterday. Really good of you to help out.

BagelDog · 30/09/2017 18:53

I am George's GEP and now a George's registrar, likely to be a George's consultant soon, so have a massive loyalty to the place. And the medical school was brilliant.

MargoLovebutter · 01/10/2017 13:18

Thanks all. I lived not far away for years and had my tonsils out there 10 years ago - just never thought about the med school!

The programme arrived by email at 10pm on Friday night, so we went, we saw, we heard all the important bits & made it to the family party!

Grateful for the help provided and also SW19mum getting in touch too.
