Anyone with DC at Cardiff?

DS has firmed Cardiff for September. It's not a city/uni we know much about.
He was very positive after the Open Day, but possibly because he's heard so much about the social life 
.
The accommodation is much cheaper than DS1's uni, is it really grim?
Any info would be gratefully received.

Thanks right I forgot about TSR and it's only a year since we did all this with DS1
