Thank you both for very helpful replies. We have today had an offer from Leeds, my DDs preferred choice so we're feeling very lucky we haven't had to wait long. Timings seem so random we know we've been fortunate to hear soon.

I can legitimately join the thread! Exactly 4 weeks after ds pressed send, college have today sent his application to ucas. Do feel they let him down badly with their inexperience of the system and when I spoke to his pastoral tutor earlier in the week, he told me he had written the reference from a template that the careers lady had given him Hmm. I asked him if he mentioned ds's diagnosis and he said he hadn't been aware ds had one - that's despite it being on every enrolment form and every official bit of paper he has ever been sent by the college Shock

Ds is on the autistic spectrum and had a statement all through nursery, primary, secondary and an LDA (post 16 version of a statement) which he rescinded at the start of his first year at college. Other stuff too missing from the college computer system which would have indicated just how many hurdles ds has got over to get where he is. Bit late now but it would have been nice if the admissions tutors had been able to see ds's achievements in their true light.

Wary purvey, my dds application was exactly the same, 4 weeks after college received it they managed to get references sorted at last and finally sent it to ucas this week. (Different reasons than yours though) fingers x'd he hears something soon, good luck to your dds.

Dd had her first offer today!!

eatyourveg - the tutor/school/college can write to the individual unis applied to explaining additional circumstances. DD2s school did that for her, although they did mention in the reference they were going to. But, did he tick the "I have a disability" box on the UCAS form? For DD2, that triggered lots of "contact the disability support service at x uni to see how we can help" emails.

eatyourveg how frustrating!

Isn't there a place on the application where your DS can specify that he's on the autistic spectrum - can be go back into it and edit it if that part hasn't been completed?

I know that students don't get to see the references written for them but I thought they could access the rest of the form.

Ignore me if you've already thought of this and its not possible.

Yes he ticked the disability box and wrote in the box - college obviously didn't bother reading his application! useful to know that college can write to individual unis with additional information. He mentioned in his ps other mitigating circumstances which they didn't seem to be aware of either! He has however pitched his application wisely so hopefully will get offers.

Ah okay - that's not so bad then. At least the info is in there somewhere Grin - quite what the college is doing being so incompetent though is beyond me. I feel sorry for kids in places where they don't know the system, makes it very unfair

Hello, how are we all doing? Not too bad here, one offer for non vet application, two interviews offered. Even if offers dont appear the worst fear of "what if i dont even get any interviews, i will look stupid" is not going to happen. Not sure i will last until August at this rate!

Well done to your dd OP for her offer and interviews. Are they before Christmas?

Ds is a week on from his UCAS form being submitted. Just acknowledgements so far. He checks his emails every 2 hours, a friend does it every 1/2 hour Shock I feel for our dcs but in our day it was snail mail so you heard nothing until the interview letter dropped on the mat (or didn't).

Peaceandl0ve · 23/11/2015 18:05

Yes both before christmas, still waiting to hear from the final 2 unis. I dont remember any of this faf, or my parents being so involved for that matter.

We were much more used to waiting for everything in our day.

And yy to parents not being involved - I don't remember it being anything like it is now - did we even write a personal statement? - I cant remember. Mind you I'm pretty old.

But I do feel sorry for those who don't get any offers for months - it's nice to have one under your belt. dunlurkin it's very early days yet for your DS - hopefully in a couple of weeks one might crawl out of the woodwork.

We have 2 offers and an interview at Oxford. Exciting and really happy for him as he has worked so hard

DD has received offers from all her choices. We've visited them all and she already has a pretty good idea which her firm and insurance choices will be. One stress out of the way just in time to make way for mock revision!

Two offers here today including his first choice - so glad as I've spent the whole weekend worrying about the reference fiasco.

One offer and one interview so far, DD hasn't heard from the uni's she would like for firm and insurance choices but early days yet.

Three offers here, two after interviews. One interview to go, plus waiting to hear about Oxford. DS more than happy with his offers so far, so not too stressed re Oxford.

eatyourveg · 24/11/2015 20:07

Three offers for ds today - all 5 now in the bag. Firm is sorted but he can't decide whether his insurance should be an integrated masters or a bachelors with a year in industry. I'm having a hard time persuading him to hang on making any decisions until after the applicant days although none of his unis has mentioned them so not sure if/when they might be.

That was quick EYV. He must be delighted. Good news. DS has yet to send his form Hmm.

DS2 has had an unconditional offer, which is fantastic (and at a place I think DS2 would be happy at, although he's unconvinced), a high offer, and an interview. I am a wreck and DS2 looks pale and tired. I have much older DCs who went through this and I can't remember it ever feeling this stressy.

3 offers in and an interview, DD is ecstatic as she has an offer from both her firm and insurance choices. Happy days!! Good luck to all those waiting on offers.

We've finally got 4 choices EYV, going to leave the 5th blank for now or he'd never get it sent.
