How much do GCSE's matter?

I have A levels, a degree and am doing an access course as I've been out of education for more than 5 years....

I have 10 GCSE's A* - C but Maths (which I've always hated!) was a D.

Now I'm reading that I need a C or above in maths to apply for the degree I want to do (which is completely unrelated to maths...) How set in stone so you think this is?

(Totally panicking!!)

You may qualify with a level 2 numeracy which is equivalent to a gcse pass. Can you contact your local FE college to see if they do any short courses or drop in sessions or ask the uni if they include it alongside.

Give the admissions office at the uni a call. Does your Access course have Maths Equivalence built in? I know some universities don't accept that, particularly for more science based degrees, but if its an arts/humanities degree they might not be so stringent.

It's Counselling...

There's no maths in the access course but I will definitely ask about the qualification mentioned, thank you!

This is going to apply to me as well, " I left school in 1990 with only D in GCSE maths" I am doing OU Social Sciences Level 1 at the moment but looking for a "University" in about 18 months time. I just had a "practice" on the Edexcel level 2 test A (on the internet) 40 questions I got 26/40 a Pass is 21 so despite being nervy and very rusty . I passed ,its worth having a "practice" WWW. Edexcel level 2 maths test.

Thanks, I will.

I just freaked myself out by taking this test
