UCAS/course code mistake/help!

DS entered a course code for one of his chosen universities on his UCAS form. Right subject area but choice the course within it for which slightly higher grades are required and they don't quite tally with his predicted grades. So less chance, by far, of an offer. Now he's found it, he is very worried.

Course code changes can't be made on a UCAS form - you can change an entire university but not a course at the same university.

He applied a week ago. What would happen if he rang the uni and explained? Might they be willing to change the code without recourse to UCAS? They might at an offer stage - but it's unlikely he'll get an offer if the code isn't changed. Any experience of this? Thanks.

Definitely ring up the university and explain what has happened and ask for their advice. Talk to admissions in the department concerned. The staff might not be in next week so it would be worth getting on the phone today if possible.

Many thanks, Cerisier, for answering at this time! Will do - and good point about next week.

Agree with calling. If he is 18 he might have to make the call himself due to data protection.

Also some universities will make offers for similar courses, so you might apply for biomedical science but be offered a place on a biology course.

Are you sure the application has actually completely gone off? - Once you press send that doesn't mean it goes straight to ucas, school have to then attach their reference. I would start by ringing the school to make sure it isn't still there - your ds may be able to catch it before it goes off.

Many thanks, all of you. I rang the uni and they said that should be fine. DS needs to send them an email confirming this request.
Phew! Thanks again.
