Any Shakespeare experts around?

My brother has just been awarded a PhD

His thesis was about Shakespeare. I am making cake and want a fitting quote about education or persevering and then succeeding (he did it alongside a very FT job).

Shakespeare tends to mock ambition, sadly. In Henry Vl - 'Ignorance is the curse of God; knowledge is the wing wherewith we fly to heaven' was about the nearest I could think of.

Well The Taming of the Shrew Act 1 Scene 2 has
"O this learning! what a thing it is!"

Unfortunately the rejoinder is
"O this woodcock! what an ass it is!"

It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves.

Some are born great, some achieve greatness...

The golden age is before us...

Thanks - my Shakespeare knowledge is lacking. I think one of those is Malvolio and a couple of others are a bit dodgy too. I might abandon that plan and put a mortar board and scroll on top instead!
