Adcote vs Moreton Hall

Are there any parents out there with children at either school please? We are considering both for 6th form boarding for our twin girls.

We are UK nationals but live abroad and the girls have never boarded before so any first hand information would be really welcome please. They are currently studying GCSE s and both are good mid range A and B predicted students.

Although we obviously want them to get the very best results they can, we want them to be happy and settled in a good environment. Due to where we live, they have had quite a sheltered upbringing and would not be what I would call 'street wise' at all.
Many thanks

You're in the wrong section, you should ask to have this moved to Secondary Education.

I would say Moreton has always been considered the 'posher' school. Adcote would be the poor relation in comparison. I have no first hand experience of either though as I went to SHS!

Both are excellent schools with a good local reputation in Shropshire. Personally, I can't see how one is 'posher' than the other. It depends on instinct - visit both and see what you all think. Moreton is coed in the Juniors, both schools do well academically but offer an all round education

I know two separate acquaintances who have sent their children to Moreton as day pupils after struggling in local schools with friendships and they report that their girls are really enjoying their time there.

Hi Dxb1

My daughter goes to Adcote (which I don't consider a poor relation). I viewed a number of private schools in Shrewsbury and for me Adcote had the right mix of academic achievement and care. (my daughter is 5)

I have a number of friends with their girls in the school one of which is in sixth form and everyone of them is over the moon with how their girls are getting on.

The school is very friendly and welcoming and provides the girls with a rounded education, not only academic but social skills as well.

Any questions please ask

As above. I'd say, if anything that Adcote was the posher of the two, given the location and 'all girls' nature of the school.

Just found this thread so hoping it is still current! Not really bothered about the 'posh' thing but having looked at girls schools locally they both seem to be overtaking Shrewsbury High School in the results tables. I am interested in knowing what life would be like for my DD in Adcote seniors, anything please?
