Is ds supposed to be re-applying or does it come automatically?

TIA

he'll need to reapply each year, and you'll need to logon with your income details as well if applicable. It's not as much hassle as a new application (unless you're SE and went for a current year assessment for income, then it confuses the helpline people when you ask for the form to confirm the income Sad).

But yes, you apply each year, so he needs to get a move on.

I second getting a wriggle on for applying for the subsequent years. I was a mature student, with a fairly bog-standard application which I got in around this time in my second year. I thought this was plenty of time to get the money for the start of term but it was a nightmare with paperwork disappearing then mysteriously reappearing when I kicked up an almightly fuss. Whilst this may still have happened if I had got my application done earlier, it would certainly have been a lot less stressful and I would have been paid when I needed the money at the beginning of term.

We don't give any of our info, he just gets the bare minimum. He's in NYC this week will nag him when he gets back.
thanks all

Thanks for posting this I thought it was automatic too

I thought you had to reapply each year which is what DDs 1 and 2 did. However DD3s has been done automatically all she had to do was sign the declaration form they sent her and send it back.

madeofkent · 18/06/2014 21:35

DS was sent an email reminder, we had a different set of forms to fill in from last year as they have updated them. We all had to do them unless he only wanted fees not living costs. Also he was given a date that they 'hoped' he would send them back by, I think it was a couple of days away from now.

mumeeee · 18/06/2014 22:42

We are in Wales and I think they were having a bit of difficulty with their website this year. I know when DD3 logged in to apply just last years information. kept comin up and there was nowhere for her to apply for this September, She was getting worried but she then recieived the information to say it had been done automatically.

Notsoskinnyminny · 19/06/2014 18:04

Mumeeee DD sent the declaration back months ago but she's just gone back to her halls to hand her keys in and clean up and there was a letter that's been there for a month saying she hadn't so now she's panicking.

mumeeee · 20/06/2014 10:08

Notsoskinny tell your DD not to panic. A simular thing happened to DD3. She sent her declaration form back in Aprill then got a letter in May saying they hadn't recieived it. She couldn't do anything about it until last week as she was still at halls and the letter was at home. Anyway she signed and sent the form off again. She logged into student finance yesterday and iit said they had evetything she needs. Just tell your DD to send the form again they should have sent another one with the letter. She will still get her money on time,

Notsoskinnyminny · 20/06/2014 16:46

Thanks mumeeee, she phoned this morning and they said it was an admin error and had received the original declaration. She can't log onto SF because there's another person with the same name, DOB and living in our city who registered first and they won't let her use her middle name to create an account. Says it all about SF Biscuit

Glad it's sorted. That sounds silly that she can't create a user account, She is not living at the same address as the other girl. I'm sure they must have come across this happening before.Wink
