NHS Bursary question

Wesdly · 23/05/2014 20:21

I'm trying to figure out whether or not I would be entitled to this but can't seem to find the right information.
I want to apply for nursing, the course I want to do is in extra so i've got a little bit of time yet but obviously don't want to apply before finding out what funding I would get.

Coming to the end of an open uni degree and so have had four years of funding with that, I'm assuming that would make a difference to it? Also second degrees often cost more, would that also be the case with nursing?
Thanks

Does anyone have any ideas?

Nursing is NHS funded so there are no tuition fees, your open uni degree won't affect your bursary or student loan. I still get the full amount of student loan (£2324 per year I think) and the bursary will only look at your partners wage if you have one.

I'm a second year student nurse, ask away if you have any questions :)

I did an open uni degree before my nursing I also meant to add!

That's brilliant. How much a month is the bursary?

It's means tested so different for everyone depending on circumstances. It's a complete nightmare to sort out!

There's a bursary calculator here

Well it looks like it will be doable. Now I just need to apply and cross my fingers.
Thanks for the help.
