Student Finance

Hi
I started studying for a degree in September and applied for student finance taking into consideration my husbands income.

If circumstances change ie he leaves, can I get my student finance amended or do I have to wait until I apply for my second years finance.

If I can't alter it mid academic year im really gonna struggle to get by. In fact, it wouldn't even begin to cover all the household bills.

Anyone in the know? Thanks

Kafri You can apply for reassessment, although it can take a while to sort out.

Your best option is to go and talk to student support at your university, they can work out exactly your financial situation, and also might be able to assist with hardship funding while things gets sorted out.

Just to add to what creamteas said, there is the Access to Learning Fund that can help with things like this :)

Thanks for the replies.

I spoke to SF the other day and the lady told me that they couldn't rejig my finance until I apply for next years. But, after your replies and chatting to a friend I called back yesterday and the guy I spoke to told me that it could be reassessed.

I thought it was a bit odd when she said they couldn't but it had me a bit panicked!!

They're literallythe slowest and shittest system ever though.
You will probably have to prove that he's left by sending in 5 different documents Etc which will then take them 3 months to process etc Hmm

Most student support depts have direct numbers into SF and, if you give permission, can talk to them on your behalf.

And as they often know more than the SF call centre staff, this really is your best option.
