College Open Day tomorrow - they are going to laugh at me aren't they?

DD is supposed to be going to a 6th form college Open Evening tomorrow

She is really ill in bed (she missed dance class tonight - which for her is a massive deal)

She know the college & want to go there; but they will only talk about funding provision at the Open Day (I rang up to try & discuss it a few weeks ago)

If I ring & say DD is too poorly to go & I can either come by myself (least preferred option) or could they tell me the funding stuff over thephone (not necessarily then but making an appointment to talk about it) - will they think I'm daft?

Do they not have literature or a web page for funding info? Surely all students cannot turn up for an open evening? What level is the course and what does the prospectus say? There may be general info on funding if you look up the course on the web.

It's a level 3 at a performing arts private school; nope nothing on-line or in any brochure I have seen

Private school open days usually expect and welcome parents as they are usually the ones paying and deciding whether or not they can afford somewhere and if they think it's a good environment for their child. It's different to university in that the state doesn't provide loans usually. I'm surprised they've been unwilling to discuss funding outwith the open day though. I'd go and tell them she is unwell.

I'll ring this morning & see how they feel about each

tbh a 4 hours trip (each way) is not my preferred option with her poorly, neither do I want to do it & leave her at home.....we were going to make it a daytrip out now the school is on strike

I'd really like to talk to them about funding; but it is her plan b

I'm all conflicted and indecisive......how pathetic!

It's a long journey, she's not well, you go instead. I can't see the problem. I wouldn't send my 16yr old to board at pace I hadn't visited. I think you are over thinking things.

We both went - she was so tired when we got back

& it may not be an option because of her grades more than anything, which is a shame
