I'm starting an access course tomorrow and just wondered if anyone else is doing one this year? Mine is officially in Health and Social Care and covers physiology, psychology, sociology, social history, plus the usual maths, IT, study skills etc.

I'm starting teaching one in a couple of weeks.

I'm starting one today! Mine is in Humanities and social sciences.

Are you nervous too? I am! Been at home with my son for the past three years whilst dp worked so quite a change going out and doing something! I can only talk to three year olds :D

Good luck! Maybe we are at the same college??

How did you get on? Hope it went well. What part of the country are you? There were people on your course starting today at my college

Got on really well. Once all the formalities were out the way, and we actually started sone work, I really enjoyed it. Have a nice bunch of people in my group.

How was yours?

I'm in Suffolk.

purplepenguin86 · 19/09/2013 23:59

I think we're at the same college then! PM me and we can arrange to meet if you like!

hi i'm starting an Access course too, Humanities and Social Science, also in Suffolk.
I'm a bit late starting so I'll be 2 weeks behind, I'm part time so will be doing the evening classes. Would be strange if we all happened to be in the same class. Smile

I am doing Access for Humanities and arts in Lincolnshire and loving it x

Good luck to all you Access starters. I did one four years ago - Access to Teaching - and it was the best thing I ever did. Completely opened my eyes up to the world beyond the kids, hubby and home. I loved it, but it was hard graft at times and my kids got very used to having to eat ready meals on a far too frequent basis! However, if you decide to go on to Uni, it more than prepares you for further study in terms of knowing how to reference correctly, write academically etc. I ended up getting a First this year which I never in a million years would have got if I'd gone straight from school. Best of luck!

How has everybody been getting on? Loving my course. Can see how it will be completely life changing.

Boyswillgrow are you law or psychology?

Strumpetron · 17/10/2013 21:56

I'm halfway through my two year one in health, all distinctions so far yay

ThePortlyPinUp · 25/10/2013 15:50

I'm doing an access to science and nursing course in Norfolk, have been a housewife for the last 12 years so it's a complete change but I'm loving every minute of it.

BoysWillGrow · 26/10/2013 15:40

Loving mine too, lots of work but I'm really enjoying it. I'm doing psychology floatyflo they're already looking to get us to apply for uni next year which is a bit scary but exciting too.
