first tine uni parent!

Have just taken my lovely daughter to uni. 350 miles from home! Trying so hard to be brave.... how do I keep a brave face when I go home tomorrow? So proud and happy for her but gonna miss her so much and don't know how I'll walk into her empty room at home. Advice please mums????

I am lucky as DD1 is only an hour away. She's just about to start her 2nd year and I admit I missed her last year. She came home once per term and I visited her twice in the first term.

I avoided going into her room as much as possible apart from an initial tidy up just after she went, although I did go in on the first night when it looked weird with all the posters and books gone.

I used to text my DD to ask if she was free for a call - we usually managed to speak a couple of times a week. This year it's likely to be Skype.

It's good that you will miss her. You have raised a young woman that you want to spend time with. Christmas will be here before we know it and they'll be home with all their washing Chin up and take pride in your success.

The term actually passes really quickly and they get long holidays. The Autumn term is a good one, as you can put your energy into Christmas preparations.
I am in the same boat, as it is my last DC who goes next week. I am preparing to be heart-broken, but I will try not to let him see that. (With DD3, I sobbed outside by the car; other parents saw, but she didn't!)
I agree with the post above; be proud of your close relationship with your daughter.

My youngest has gone this weekend. I"ve texted her to say we"re home and will phone her tomorrow. We"ve already arranged that I'll phone her a few times in the next couple of weeks and then will go dowm to once a week. We're having a friends cat tomorrow so that will kwwp me busy and I've also got other stuff to do as well? as working.

I have to collect my DD2 for a dental appointment at home tomorrow. She is less than an hour away but, I cannot believe this, she is bringing washing home!..... I am not happy! She has a 51 week lease but says the washing machines in the hall are too expensive. I can't believe I have brought this child up. Just when u think u have seen the last of them and their washing..... It's appearing again to haunt me.

just went to her empty bedroom, stripped bed etc for washing....really wouldn't recommend it girls :(

DD3 is 4 hours drive away. She''s already been and looked at the laundry room. Bolton have added powder and fabric conditioner to their machines this year. So she doesn't need to buy her own.

Day 3....

Feeling redundant... a few text messages about buying "healthy stuff"...

Let's hope he manages to hide all Pot Noodles under his bed !!!

dd is caterered (only room available) she wasn't at all keen, but seems to be getting used to full English brek very quickly!!
