How does one toe the line between wanting a child to get a secure job that will pay off their loans and also do the things that they will never have the opportunity to do when they're older?

I know what you mean.
They can never get their early,hopefully carefree lives back again.
So I do encourage/support mine to spread their wings.
I also think that their experiences can also enhance their cvs.
