AS Results

My ds is really disappointed with his AS results. He was predicted 4 As and got 1 A and 3 Bs. We have decided that maybe its time for a tutor. Does anyone know of good tutors in physics and economics in the North London area. We need to get the tutor thing right as there is no time to waste. He is going into the last year of A levels. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Bingo! Exactly the same situation. Depends on whether the B's are high or low. My DS's are all high so I don't think he needs to panic too much. Although his A was low'ish too. He was a bit Confused when he got the results though. There is no reason they can't still get A's or even A*'s at A2. It is very, very doable indeed.
My DS would like to go to an AAA uni but there are some AAB courses that he also really likes. I've told him to find an ABB course that he likes just to have as an insurance. He is quite motivated and works well on his own but it would be a shame not to get AAA in his A2's. My DS isn't looking at any courses which require A's thank goodness. I know loads of DS's get A's but I think it's hard to gaurentee.

I like to think that this will help my DS stay focused next year. We are not getting a tutor, my DS doesn't have problems understanding concepts it's more that he is a bit slapdash in his exams and he does have awful writing and general presentation. How many modules will your DS resist? Mine is resitting just one which he got a C in and he needs to improve his 'practicals' marks for physics and chem.

The most important thing is that they still get AAA predictions. My DS goes to a very normal local sixth form college BTW and I am fairly sure he will get an AAA prediction.

My DS1 is at uni and is studying medicine. The application for medicine is sooo stressful for the DC's let alone the parents. I am glad DS2 has chosen something else.
