Income support over the summer

I've just finished the second year of a degree and last year I claimed income support for 8 weeks over the summer. I'm a single parent and my daughter is now 5.

Lots of rules have changed, so can anyone tell me if I can still claim income support over the summer or if i now need to apply for Jobseekers or whatever it is called now? Am I entitled to anything?

Yes, and you should have been claiming it during the term as well.

Not entitled to it during the academic year as my income is too high but I can apparently get jobseekers this year and not income support as dd is 5 not 4.

Well at least you get something. Is it contribution based? If so then it can carry on for about 6 months.
